Our Mission

The American Medical Student Association is a national organization dedicated to representing and organizing physicians in training. With a membership of nearly 30,000 medical students, premedical students, interns and residents from across the country, AMSA continues its commitment to improving medical training and the nation's health. The mission of AMSA Premed is to provide information, support, and leadership development for future physicians in training. As activists, we seek to foster our philosophy of diversity and community service in the premedical student, while providing benefits and services which aid future physicians in training as they prepare for a career in medicine.
The pre-med chapter of AMSA at the University of North Florida was founded in January 2000. UNF Premed AMSA were officially chartered in the AMSA National AMSA conference in Washington D.C. UNF AMSA is committed in providing the Premed students at UNF with exciting fundraisers, philanthropies, volunteer opportunities, academic recognition, fun social activities and informative workshops. We have a firm commitment in providing you the
opportunities that may help you become a competitive candidate for Medical School.
Here is a list of the things we did the past years:

* Medical School Forum: 11 Medical School Admissions officers telling Premed AMSA students what they are looking for in candidates for their respective Medical Schools

* Trip to Washington D.C. , Anaheim, Houston annual conference with informative workshops and exciting medical speakers

*Interview Day: In interactive simulation of the Med School interview

*Philanthropy of raising funds for Ronald McDonald House on the Wolfson Children Hospital/ Nemours Children's Clinic campus through the "McGala"

*Largest fundraiser on campus sponsored by Pepsi One

*"Family Practice Day" an intimate look at the day in the life of a Family Practice physician. Dr. Barbel-Johnson is a Family Practice physician at the Mayo Clinic

*"ER Days" Dr Rick Delacruz gives a small group discussion of the exciting and fast pace of an ER physician. He also gave a indepth description of life as a Navy doctor.

*The AMSA Annual Spring Picnic celebrated the year. We had BBQ chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, salsa, salad watermelon. We played volleyball, football, biked and swam at the beach in recent years

We promise this  year will be more exciting. Hope to see you around and good luck with you UNF Premed endeavors
